Three Preventive Tips to Help Maintain Your Car Engine in Su

As everyone knows, at present, the car plays an essential role in people's life. With people's life becoming better and better, more and more people buy their own car. However, it is important to maintain the car, especially for the summer, because the weather will become so hot that some parts of the car maybe can not bear the heat, such as auto radiator.

Buick Auto Radiators

An overheated, overflowing radiator can be very harmful to your car, truck or van. Unfortunately, overheating does not usually happen at a convenient time or place. Overheating occurs when the temperature of your coolant becomes hotter than the normal operating temperature range of your engine. Typically, summer is the most common time for your radiator to overheat. This is because idling in hot weather for long periods of time does not allow your water pump to turn fast enough, which can prevent coolant from circulating as it should. The auto radiator acts to protect the engine block from overheating when it is functioning properly. The radiator additionally keeps the pistons in working order, allowing the engine to run. Coolants pass through the engine block, flowing into the radiator to draw out excessive heat. The coolant then recycles through the engine. When the radiator fails to function correctly the coolant returning to the engine block is too hot, and as a result it boils over.

Overheating can be caused by anything that decreases the cooling system's ability to absorb, transport and dissipate heat. Actually, Loss of coolant because of a coolant leak is probably the most common cause of engine overheating. Possible leak points include hoses, the racing radiators, heater core, water pump, thermostat housing, head gasket. In addition, a leaky head gasket can allow coolant to seep into the engine's cylinders or crankcase. In some instances, a pump can cause an engine to overheat if the impeller vanes are badly eroded due to corrosion or if the impeller has come loose from the shaft.

In order to keep your car in good running condition, preventive maintenance is a necessary expense. Therefore, there are three tips you need to remember. Firstly, let's start with one of the most important fluids of all: motor oil. It not only lubricates the engine, but also cools, cleans and protects it. Secondly, make sure you get the correct oil filter for your engine. In other words, follow the application listing in the oil filter supplier's catalog. Last but not least, the antifreeze in the coolant performs three very important jobs: it prevents the coolant from freezing during cold weather, it raises the boiling temperature of the coolant to prevent overheating during hot weather, and it fights corrosion. Besides checking the level of the coolant periodically to make sure it isn't low, the strength and condition of the antifreeze should also be checked.
